Blast the Norm. Break the Form.
The Verse Version (Print ISSN 2051-526X | Online ISSN 2399-9705) is a biannual, peer-reviewed journal published by Leoman Publishing Co. Ltd., UK (https://leoman.uk/vv). Founded in 2011, Verse Version is dedicated to advancing scholarship and creative practice in poetry, featuring original poetry, critical research in poetics, and translations of classical and contemporary works. Issues are released each summer and winter, providing a global platform for poets, scholars, and translators.
All accepted articles receive a Crossref DOI and are submitted for indexing in major academic databases, including Google Scholar, and other key platforms.
Scope of the Journal
We welcome submissions in the following areas:
Original Poetry
· Contemporary poetry, experimental forms, and cross-genre works
· Multimedia and digital poetry
Poetics & Literary Criticism
· Theoretical studies on poetics, poetic forms, and literary aesthetics
· Comparative poetry studies and critical essays
Translation Studies
· Translation of classical and contemporary poetry
· Intercultural and cross-linguistic poetics
· Translation theory and practice in poetic contexts
Interdisciplinary & Digital Approaches
· Poetry and visual arts, music, performance
· Digital poetry, AI-assisted poetic creation, literary big data analysis
Manuscript Guidelines
· Language & Length: Manuscripts should be in English, approx. 3,000–8,000 words for research/critical essays; poetry submissions may vary in length.
· Structure for Essays:
o Abstract (≤ 300 words)
o Keywords (3–6)
o Main text
o References (APA style)
· Originality: Submissions must be unpublished and not under review elsewhere. Plagiarism or duplicate submissions are strictly prohibited.
Submissions
· Submission Method: Email manuscripts to verseversionjournal@gmail.com. Include both an anonymized version and an author-identified version in Word or PDF format.
· Review Process: All submissions undergo double-blind peer review. Decisions are normally returned within 1 months.
· Publication & Distribution: Accepted submissions will be published in print and online editions. Contributors will receive a complimentary print copy of the issue.
